Because of Jesus' obedience, we are saved. We are spared from God's wrath. Only thing we need to do is to "believe" and to have faith in His blood that shed on the cross.
Now, by believing in Him, we will have Eternal Life (John 3:16). This is the Life that we have through CHRIST.

Likewise with God's promises. It is alive. It is living. It is His Word. It has its meaning to us. Though some of His promises was spoken according to the history, was to the people of Israel, God will make it sure that He will make it happen to us as well.
