One Honest Prayer from the Heart

A heart where You rule and reign
A heart that beats only for You
A heart that seeks to please You
A heart that is after Your own heart

Jeremiah 29: 13

“And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart”.

A promise that really touched my heart.

A promise that I’ve taken hold of especially at times when I knew I had nurtured the callousness of my heart.

This stubborn, stubborn heart that had swayed from Your path countless of times.

A heart that, despite its rebellious nature, cries for freedom and salvation; desiring for deliverance from its stiff-necked, sinful nature.

A heart that is too weak to fight its desire for this world.

A heart that is too proud and selfish to admit that it wants You above anything else.

And yet..

..when this heart remembers this staggering promise.. remembers that the only reason where it is right now is only because of You

and not because of its own efforts.. is humbled down, and seeks after its Maker and Lover earnestly..

So Lord Jesus.. take the callousness, take the stubbornness, the procrastinating spirit and the tendency to drift away…

This heart wants You to take them away

This heart wants You to help it deny itself and shun away from the worldly pleasures that is fleeting and empty and leaves it in despair in the end.

This hearts admits it needs You

This heart admits that it wants to come back to You

To that season when it can recognize and quiver whenever it hears Your voice as its only Shepherd

This heart wants that

Because that is the only place this heart is filled with exceedingly great joy and is fully fully satisfied.

Change this heart Oh Lord God

Nothing is impossible with You

No callousness nor stubbornness can separate this heart from You and from Your love

Make this heart pure

A heart that fixes its vision of You and to You

A heart that hates to sin and flees from sin at all cost

A heart that is not divided but determined

A heart where You rule and reign

A heart that beats only for You

A heart that is after Your own heart

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

         Jeremiah 29:11

IMG_6531It took me almost 29 years to actually and genuinely understand what it means to trust God. During my early years of existence, I thought I was able to really grasp the content of Jeremiah 29:11. When I was younger, everything was easy. I go to school, do my best, behave properly and making my parents proud was more like the routine that I got used to and apparently, I was doing a pretty good job mastering this. But came my 20’s, everything changed. This was when I got the true taste of reality and confusion started to hit me hard. There were moments that I would cry at night praying and hoping that Jesus would just make all the pain go away in an instant because I could not take it anymore. And looking at my past, I could say that everything happened because Jesus was showing me what it really means to put my WHOLE TRUST IN HIM, and in HIM ALONE.

As you could see, I have placed different colors in the verse so I could share to you how I have come to truly understand Jeremiah 29:11. Without a doubt, Jesus is still continuously showing me the beauty in his word. For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart (Hebrews 4:12)

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord..”

This part alone has so many reasons why God wants us to put out trust in Him. God deserves every bit of our trust because He is our Creator. He is our loving Father and He loves us as His sons and daughters.

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

                                                                    Psalm 139:13-14  (NIV)

“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.

                                                                                               Isaiah 49: 15-16 (NIV)

Because God created us, therefore, He knows every single thing about us. He is an OMNISCIENT God. He sees everything, hears everything  knows everything, from past, present to future.

“Can a man hide himself in hiding places So I do not see him?” declares the LORD “Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?” declares the LORD.

                                                                                                                               Jeremiah 23:24

Lift up your eyes on high And see who has created these stars, The One who leads forth their host by number, He calls them all by name; Because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power, Not one of them is missing.

                                                                                                                                    Isaiah 40:26

“Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ “For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.

                                                                                                                              Matthew 6:31-32

All knowledge came from Him and His knowledge is perfect. He alone is perfect, and therefore,  His will and plans for us will never fail. Just like what He planned for our Lord Jesus Christ. Dying on the cross was not a failure but was the greatest success and the most beloved gift, a Father could ever give to His son and daughter.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

                                                                                                                                     John 3:16

“plans to prosper you and not to harm you…”

I believe that everything happens for a reason, and in this life that we have, its not always sugar, spice and everything nice. It is true that God is a God of love (1 John 4:8) and knowing that makes it hard for some people to understand why God would allow us to lose someone we love, or go through all kinds of pain and hardship.

When I have come to know God, I was able to understand that the world that we live in gives us a huge misconception about having a prosperous life. This world is always about having all the wealth, ageless beauty and health, unbeatable success etc.  The word of God clearly says that God made this world, but the spirit that lures around it is not from God. All the lust, greediness, anger and hate. These are far from God.

For everything in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life comes not from the Father but from the world.

                                                                                                                                     1 John 2:16

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

                                                                                                                                  Romans 12:2

Despite all that, we must remember  that the road to a prosperous life is not about being born having a silver spoon in one’s mouth.  It is about having Jesus Christ in our lives. God, in all His ways, is leading us nearer to Him. His purpose for our lives is for us to accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and to exalt His Name, offering our lives as a form of worship so that other people will come to know Jesus Christ. This is the only way for us to understand how God works in our lives, may it be in ups or downs, in joy or in pain. In whatever circumstances, putting our trust in God will never lead us to any form of harm because we will never be apart from Him.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

                                                                                                                         Romans 8:28

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

John 16:33

“plans to give you hope and a future…”

Now your asking, “Why do we need a Savior?”. This may sound very bold to you, but the simplest answer is this: Because we are SINNERS and sin SEPARATES US FROM GOD. It is not because sin is more powerful, but because GOD IS HOLY.

But like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, “YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY.”

Now, why would I put my trust in God knowing that I, having a sinful nature, will never be good enough for Him? Because again, God’s plan to give us hope and a future has been fulfilled many years ago when He gave His Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for you and me.

“For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

Luke 19:10

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

1 John 3: 1

The truth is, He loved us first. We do not deserve to have a loving Father like Him, but still, HE LOVED US FIRST. And because, His love for us is so great, He sacrificed His son, our Lord Jesus Christ, to die on the cross, for you and me. Isn’t that enough reason for us to our trust in God? He is so faithful and so merciful that my mind could not even comprehend why He would do that for me. Again, it all comes back to His Love.

Jesus Christ took all the sufferings and punishment that was supposed to be imposed to you and me. If Jesus did not died on the Cross, we will not be living under grace right now. So could you imagine the extent of His love for us? Its too much for us to bear, but, I am thankful to have come and know what Jesus did for me. And having Him in my life is the greatest gift I could ever have. I know have someone whom I could trust, someone who knows me and have good plans for me, someone who wants to prosper me in every way and will never put me in any harm, someone WHO BECAME MY ONE AND ONLY HOPE, so I COULD HAVE A FUTURE.

Hallelujah! All Glory to God!

Who I Am In the Lord

I wrote this a while back, but it’s always good to be reminded.

I am a woman of fire, and my heart is emblazoned with His name.  Everyday I burn with longing to be with my God; everyday I yearn for His truth.  I live with a passion for life lived to the full, accepting the charge and challenge to fight for the Lord if needed.  I am aflame with His Word, and the holy light inside me shines forth, making me sparkle, making me blaze.

I am a woman of earth, and my body is a temple for the Lord, strong and supple, and I am a tireless workforce. My hands are capable and willing and open.  I know a mother’s ways, and my household is always ready to receive.  I support, and I nurture, and I serve.

I am a woman of water, and my spirit pours forth with grace and gentleness, and I let myself be molded according to His heavenly will.   I get my fill to the overflowing from the ocean of graces made available to me by the Father.   I can come as soft as summer rain, refreshing, sweet and pure and clean.  I can come as a tempestuous typhoon, righteous, strong, and certain and secure in my worth in the Lord.

I am a woman of wind, and my soul flows freely in praise and in worship.  I can fly as I set my feet to dancing, as I lose myself in joyful songs that rejoice in Him.  I can stroke the air and make it sing, the notes lilting and swaying in the breeze, my voice an instrument for the Lord.

I am woman, hear me roar.  I am eagle, watch me soar.  I am beautiful by design, by holy creation, and I reside in my Father’s heart.

I am your mother, and your sister, and your friend, and your teacher, and your helper, and your partner.  I can be anything I want to be.  But most of all, most important of all, I am His daughter.

And no one can ever take that away from me.

When I Am In Troubled Water

I see myself as a swimmer,

I jumped, I dipped into the water.

The feeling of soaking and getting wet,

Addressing  the rage of the troubled sweat.

When I am in troubled water,

I am trying to swim faster!

Looking for something to hold on,

Persevering to carry on.

For an unknown way, I am so worried.

Swimming is an edge, yet so afraid!

In the surging waves,

I am hopeful! I will be saved!

But shouting was no use,

Grasping for air is my excuse.

So I continue to survive,

In a life that strives.

When I am in troubled water,

I asked myself further,

“Why do i fear?”

Because no One’s near?

But I know that I’m like Peter,

“LORD, I will come to YOU in the water”

The wind blows wilder,

And I begin to sink deeper!

But JESUS is gracious,

When I call, HE come and rescues!

HE immediately stretches HIS hands

HE pulled me up so I can stand.

I of little faith,

Saved by GOD who’s too Great.

The LORD who always saves me,

Is not a lifeguard nor a nobody

But in the water HE walks

As HE saves an ordinary folk.

Oh how mighty are YOU my LORD,

In the surge of a storm YOU can’t afford

To lose a sheep YOU are caring,

Gave YOUR life, continuously saving!

What can I offer back to YOU?

I can only offer my heart YOU knew.

It might not be pure, it’s broken, untrue.

YOU still accept it, I have nothing to argue.

In YOUR mercy I became pure, anew!

Testify, Magnify, Glorify

pathI see you in the beauty of the day
In every blade of grass
In the whisper of the breeze
The swaying of the trees
I see you in the blue of the sky
In the shapes the clouds make
They spell out Your name
They draw out Your face
They cry out Your majesty

I want to testify to Your goodness Lord
I want to magnify Your name
I want everyone to know
Everyone to sing
Everyone to glorify

Singing out, crying out, calling out to Your goodness
Every fiber of my being crying out for You

I want to fly, if I can, go straight to heaven

I close my eyes and everything fades away
Leaving only me and You

And I can’t help but cast my eyes down
I can’t look at You directly
But You take my hand in Yours
Enfold me in a warm embrace
And Your goodness overwhelms
And I feel strong, I feel whole
I feel healed
You raise me up, put a halo on my head
And I am like a child
Finding favor in my Father’s eyes

How I long to be near you Father
How I long to be in Your presence always
Without You I am nothing
With You I can be everything

Grace in a flower in a crack in a pavement

I was walking down the street one day, a path I’ve walked many times before
and I happened to look down
and I saw this flower.
It was a delicate little thing,
white, with five petals, and burst of sunshine yellow in the middle.
It was growing though a crack in the pavement, its little leaves a perfect bed for this tiny bouquet in the middle of the road that is my regular walk.

And it made me think.
It reminded me that God, in His infinite greatness, with the reach of all His power and glory, and might
can still have the time to create this beautiful work of art.
He who made mountains, and waterfalls, and commands the waves and winds;
He who can make the sun to rise, the stars to fall, and the galaxies to spin and dance to His bidding;
He can still set aside some time to craft this intricate, exquisite work of art.

And more than that, more than that!
He made sure to put it in my path.
He made sure that I would see it at the right time,
that I would look down at the right moment,
so that He can present me with this tiny vision of perfection.

Grace in a flower in a crack in a pavement.
God is amazing.

And think about it.
If He can put this much attention to detail on a tiny flower in the middle of the road,
how much more love and care can He pour down on you?

Brothers and sisters, we are worth so much more to Him.
More than we can even begin to think.
More than we can imagine.
More than we will ever be able to understand.

God loves you.
He cares about you.
He thinks about you, even when you forget Him.
He cares about you, even when you reject Him.

Even as you fail to see the goodness that He has created in you
Even as you fail to see the perfection of His creation
Even as you fail to see the complete and absolute love that He has for you and for all men

Because those mountains, and waterfalls
The waves and winds and sun and stars and entire galaxies
He made them all for us
He made them for you and me
And everyday He makes it so that good things come our way
He moves heaven and earth
To make sure
There are flowers in our path
